One last step to non-profit status

Thursday, August 20th, 2009

I have good news to share. Our attorney spoke with the IRS yesterday afternoon, and cleared up some confusion with regard to the for-profit subsidiary. For some reason, they got the idea that Polder was claiming that any for-profit subsidiary it may form in the future would be tax-exempt by virtue of the fact that the subsidiary would be controlled by Polder and would pay over its profits to Polder. Our attorney explained that this was not the case, and that any for-profit subsidiary Polder may form would be a separate, for-profit, taxable corporation. With this understanding, our IRS contact is recommending that Polder’s application for exemption be approved. We could expect to receive our determination letter within 4 to 8 weeks.

The we can start rasing funds!

This is big news.
